Admin History | In the 1941 the Bank asked the National Council for Social Service (NCSS) to undertake an investigation into the advantages and disadvantages of wartime evacuation from London by businesses, and whether such moves might be made permanent at the end of the war. Although prompted by the fact that the Bank had its Accountant's Department in Hurstbourne, Hampshire, the 'dispersal survey' also obtained evidence from banks, railways, and insurance companies and other firms. The study was completed in 1943 and published in 1944. |
