TitleSECRETARY'S FILES: PAPERS OF J C DEEKS RELATING TO A HISTORY OF THE BANK, 1893 - 1914
Date1933 - 1935
DescriptionThis history was designed to link with John Arundel Caulfeild Osborne's history of the Bank during the First World War. This file contains the work done by J C Deeks. It was not published. Deeks was a clerk working in the Discount Office when he was 'borrowed' by the Economics and Statistics Section in 1933. A note in the file dated 1935 says that Osborne appointed Deeks to write a history of the Bank's policy from 1893 to 1914. The same note says that Deeks had finished work on 1893 to 1900 and had started on the later section. There are some notes for 1900 to 1914, but few papers appear to survive for this section of the history.
