| Description | This series consists of four types of material: (a) Governor's and Deputy Governor's Diaries (see ADM 20/ADM34 for Governor Montagu Collet Norman's Diaries 1913 - 1944). These are a retrospective daily record under the following headings: Interviews; Lunch (appointments); Letters (outgoing with brief description of contents); Notes (of interviews). There are indexes at the end of the files; (b) Duplicates of all the daily letters and memoranda written by the Governors and certain letters and memoranda written by Directors and Advisers, the Assistant to the Governors and the Governor's Private Secretary; (c) Duplicates of miscellaneous memoranda written by the Governors; (d) Notes for record of the Governor's conversations with HM Government (HMG) Officials and with United Kingdom (UK) and overseas representatives. Other copies of (b) and (c) are to be found elsewhere in the Archive in context.
Correspondence files contain outgoing letters signed by the Governors - incoming material is filed with the relevant areas in the Bank. |
