| Description | This volume contains the the main minutes of the Committee for Building, covering a wide range of matters relating to the Bank of England's buildings, including its branches. These include:notes of Committee members attending each meeting; copies of reports and correspondence; lists of bills laid before the Committee; quarterly reports to Court; reports of building work in progress; land purchases and sales; rents and leases of Bank properties.There is a note in the entry for 16 October 1833 that Sir John Soane's letter of resignation, tendered with his report of the completion of the building works was referred to the Court of Directors. It was resolved that C R Cockerell be recommended to the Court of Directors for the post of Architect at a meeting held on 23 October 1833. Indexed. |
