| Description | These files cover the United Kingdom's (UK) financial arrangements with a number of countries between 1934 and 1943. Except for OV6/295-302 they originated with the Trade and Payments Section of the Chief Cashier's Office in the Cashier's Department. This Section worked very closely with the Overseas and Foreign Office, the precursor of the Overseas Department. Responsibility for exchange control passed from the Cashier's Department to the Overseas Department in 1964, and the files were presumably transferred at that time. Certainly the Overseas Department transferred them to the Archive and they are thus so classified. OV6/295-302 came from the Overseas Department itself. |
