Admin HistoryThe Jordan Currency Board established on 20 Aug 1949 and dissolved in 1964. The Currency Board met in London about once a month from its inception until 25 Jul 1957. Its seat was transferred to Amman on 1 Oct 1957, and meetings were resumed there on 23 Oct 1957. An investment committee met in London from 1957 to 1962. In 1959 the Jordanian authorities passed a law providing for a Central Bank. On 27 May 1962 the Currency Board decided to transfer its assets from the Ottoman Bank to the Bank of England on 1 Oct 1962, and to close its London office. The Governor of the new Central Bank attended meetings of the Board from Oct 1963, and on 1 Jun 1964 the Board decided to hand over all its responsibilities to the Central Bank after the close of business on 30 Sep 1964.
