Admin HistoryThe Committee was appointed on 13 Mar 1783 and was to look into the business carried out in the Bank. The Committee's Report led to the formation of the three permanent Committees of Inspection. The Committee's work was taken over by the Joint Accountant's and Banking Department's Committee.
DescriptionThe volume contains summaries of evidence given to the Committee and the first, second and third reports to the Committee of Treasury. The first report begins on p. 67; second report on p. 155; third report on p. 195.

Chief Cashier's Office, Cashier's Department: Work of the In Tellers with procedures for accounting, Out Tellers and Clearers;
Bill Office: Processes, Discounting of bills, Description of the House Book, Security arrangements;
Pay Office;
Discount Office;
Drawing Office, including Business transacted with the Exchequer, Attendance of staff on holidays, Mistakes in ledgers, Cash books A, B, C, H, K and O, and Post Bills Book;
Plan of having bank notes ready made out for the public;
Interviews with long-serving staff: Mr Lander, Mr Larchin, Mr Jackson, Mr Thompson, Mr Bridger (Principal of the Dividend Warrant Office), Mr Cowper (Principal Clerk who attends the Exchequer);
Printing of bank notes;
Bullion Office;
Accountant's Department: List of offices, Posting of bills and notes discounted, D book;
Work of the Watchmen: Keys, opening and closing of gates, Muskets, Fire engines.
