Admin HistoryThe Committee was appointed on 13 Mar 1783 and was to look into the business carried out in the Bank. The Committee's Report led to the formation of the three permanent committees of Inspection. Committee 1 was responsible for Stock Offices; Committee 2 for the Printing Office, Bank Note Office, Signers of Notes under £5, Pay Clerks, Intellers (In-tellers), Income Office, Out-tellers, Clearers, Cash Books, Inspectors and Specie.
DescriptionContains manuscript Rules and Orders, 1791 and as at 8 Nov 1804. Includes a compendium of duties etc for offices inspected by Committee of Treasury: Secretary's Accountant-General's, Chief Cashier's, Cashier's Bullion Exchequer, and regulations for Doorkeepers (undated), Watchmen, 1788, Porters, 1783-84, Gatekeeper, 1783, House porters (undated), Stationery, 1792, local Boards for the management of Branch Advances (plus printed form, 1826).
