Admin HistoryIn 1860, business connected with Indian Government Promissory Notes was transferred from East India House to the Bank (Chief Cashier). In 1862, by Order of Court, it was transferred to the Chief Accountant and the India Office was constituted, 8 May 1862. Business connected with lost bills of exchange for interest on the Notes was taken over by the Secretary early in 1863.
