Description | Typed memorandum split into five parts: pt. 1) Introduction; pt. 2) The general principles of war; pt. 3) An appreciation of the problem of defending the Bank; pt. 4) Proposals derived from conclusions in pt. 3; pt. 5) Appendices. Also contains a number of aerial photos of the Bank of England and surrounding buildings (one taken in 1925, the rest in the mid-1930s); newspaper cuttings reporting on the effect of air raid bombing campaigns during the Spanish civil war, the threat to oil supply lines and the consideration for home-grown food supplies. Stubbs wrote this memorandum between 18 Jan and 1 Jun 1938. |
