| Description | Files containing copies of typescript in and out letters between Benjamin Strong, Governor of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY) (1914-28), and Montagu Collet Norman of the Bank of England (Director, 1907-18; Deputy Governor 1918-20; Governor 1920-44). The copies were collated by the Federal Reserve Bank from its own archives and those of the Bank of England. The correspondence concerns private and personal matters and aspects of contemporary domestic and international finance. The files also include copies of hand-written letters, (with typescript transcriptions), and the letters have occasional annotations. Each file is arranged chronologically by year, and is divided annually into two sections; Strong to Norman and Norman to Strong. |
