|Date||Annual changes of UK resident banks' (excl. Central Bank) all foreign currency lending secured on dwellings (excluding bridging finance) to individuals (in sterling millions) not seasonally adjusted
[a] [b] [c]
[a] Data in 1992 and before is available from end-November and at three month intervals, at the end of 1993, data switched to end-December and every three months from this.
[b] In these statistics, lending flows are adjusted to remove potential distortions caused by revaluations (e.g. write-offs). These adjustments have not been carried through to all individual categories, therefore the sum of the individual categories does not add exactly to the total changes. "Unallocated adjustments" account for the difference
[c] Comprises loans, advances, acceptances and holdings of sterling commercial paper. The data specifically excludes lending under repo from end-December 1995. At end-March 1996 such lending was £15.3 bn in sterling and £35.1 bn in currency; at end-June 1996 £17.3 bn and £47.5 bn, at end-September 1996 £18.6 bn and £44.5 bn, at end- December 1996 £14.8 bn and £55.95 bn, and at end-March 1997 the corresponding figures were £23.3 bn and £53.5 bn. Most of this lending is to financial institutions.
