About the event
When: Thursday 20 November, 5.15pm to 8pm
As part of the inaugural Assemble with Material Matters conference, join us in the Museum for a special showcase of the work of five different designers. From waste to wonder, natural fibres to radical reinventions, see how their works highlight how materials can inspire imaginative futures.
Visitors will get to speak with our featured designers, see their work up close, and learn how they are innovating the design industry.
Featured designers
- SolidWool – crafting furniture from a unique composite of wool and bio-resin.
- Sanne Visser – exploring the circular potential of human hair as a design material.
- Zena Holloway – growing textiles from plant roots to reimagine sustainable fashion.
- Lulu Harrison – creating a new form of glass from waste seashells and beer industry by-products.
- Alkesh Parmar – developing playful and sustainable materials from citrus peel.

Essential information
- The event is free to attend, but booking is required.
- The event will begin at 5.15pm. The Museum will close temporarily at 5pm for security reasons, and reopen 15 minutes later.
- Last entry is at 7.30pm. The event concludes at 8pm.
- Please note there is airport-style security at the Museum’s entrance.
