About the event

When: Thursday 9 October 2025, 6pm to 8pm

Join us for an after-hours audio-described tour of key exhibits in the museum led by a guide. Blind and partially sighted visitors will learn about the Bank’s history and architecture and find out fascinating facts about banknotes. Plus, they can lift a 12.5kg gold bar in our secure showcase. Feel its weight and size, alongside learning about the Bank’s duties as gold custodians.

Visitors can also enjoy an object handling session with some of our special handling collection items and they will also have the chance to visit our new temporary exhibition, ‘Building the Bank - 100 years on’.

The tour will begin at 6pm and will last approximately an hour. Feel free to join us for light refreshments from 5.30pm. There will be time after the tour to explore the galleries at your own leisure before we close at 8pm.
