About this event
When: Thursday 17 December, 5.15pm to 8pm (last entry 7.30pm)
It's not every day that you get to put on your best clothes and your dancing shoes and set foot on a Christmas dancefloor to party the night away. And that was how it should have been for the Bank of England back in 1939. The buzz from the recent renovation combined with festive excitement - all lost in the early days of WWII. But, if we could go back in time and re-launch the Bank after its rebuild, and throw the most amazing Christmas celebration, we reckon this is what it would look like.
Celebrate two partridges with one pear tree this December with our Christmas at Threadneedle Street Museum late event. The evening aims to showcase the architectural triumph of the Bank's nearly decade-long renovation alongside a festive extravaganza, all set in the late 1930s. Visitors can expect live music, refreshments, dancing workshops, crafting activities, all set in our beautiful Grade I listed venue, decked out in full Christmas regalia.
Visitors are encouraged to book a free ticket to increase their chances of admission to what we anticipate being a popular event. Dressing up in era-appropriate attire is also encouraged, as the Museum will become a dazzling 1930's Christmas dance hall for one night only.
An exclusive talk given by the Museum Curator will also be held at 6pm for visitors not yet ready to take to the dancefloor. Information and tickets for this event will be shared shortly, and tickets will be bookable via a separate page.
