Long before the over 300 year history of the Bank of England, stood Olympus. Built into the beating heart of the UK's central bank, the gods and goddesses of Olympus stand watch over the Old Lady of Threadneedle Street. At this exclusive evening event, uncover the truth behind the guardian deities that oversee one of the oldest central Banks in the world

Visitors can expect to traverse across mythological ancient Greece, discovering the various figures that were included in the Bank's design over time. As you step into the immersive realm of each icon, learn more about symbolism in the Bank through activities, crafting opportunities and exciting interactive points.

Essential information:

  • The Museum Late is free to attend, but booking is required. In the event that online bookings for this late event have sold out, you may still be able to attend by collecting a ticket at the door. Please note that walk in tickets are offered on a first come, first served basis and depend on venue capacity on the night. Ticket-holders are given priority entry.
  • Please note that a ticket for 'In the Shadow of Olympus: a Museum late' does not include admission to the 6pm talk, 'From Olympus to Threadneedle Street: Mythology at the Bank of England'. If you wish to attend the talk, you must reserve a separate talk ticket. Talk tickets include admission to 'In the Shadow of Olympus: a Museum late'.
  • The late event will begin at 5.15pm. The Museum will close temporarily at 5pm for security reasons, and reopen 15 minutes later. The venue must be vacated by 8pm. Last entry to this event is 7.30pm.
  • Please note there is airport-style security at the Museum's entrance.
