About this event
When: Thursday 16 April, 5.15pm to 8pm, last entry 7.30pm
How would it feel to take a grand escapade across the continent, soaking up architecture and history, revelling in art and music? This may feel like a far-off dream, but for young men of the1800's gentile class, this was the well-expected trip of a lifetime.
Much of the Bank of England's long-admired architecture was inspired by one such trip, taken by Sir Herbert Baker, the mind behind the grand redesign of the Bank in 1925, and this one-off evening event at the Bank of England Museum will offer a tour through the key inspiration points for Baker.
Visitors can expect to engage in their own marvellous journey through the Museum, discovering the architecture and history behind one of London's most iconic buildings.
