This Black History Month, explore the history of transatlantic slavery through its connections with the Bank of England and the wider City of London.
Drawing on some of the research uncovered during our previous exhibition, ‘Slavery and the Bank’, visitors can use an informative leaflet which sheds light on these connections through three main themes:
- the business interests of past Governors and Directors of the Bank
- the Bank of England’s role in the wider economy at the time
- the Bank’s ownership of two sugar plantations in Grenada.
The leaflet will be available from 5pm and can be collected from the information desk on arrival.
