Join us every third Thursday of the month as we stay open late, giving you extra time to explore our museum.

This month, discover the history of espionage and the Second World War with talks by Dave Hill, founder of the London Clandestine Warfare Collection.

Talk

At 5.45pm and 6.45pm

From concealed weapons to a chess set which hides a compass, join us for a talk on gadgets used by spies during the Second World War. Dave Hill, the founder of the London Clandestine Warfare Collection will explain what Special Operations Executive and MI9 were and the roles they played in WWII and what impact their missions had on the outcome of the war.  He will describe how they carried out these missions and what ‘gadgets’ they used.

After the talk, get a closer look at the various weapons and gadgets used by the spies with objects on display from the London Clandestine Warfare Collection.

The talk is free and will last about 30 minutes.

Tickets: To secure your place, pick up a free ticket from the Museum’s Information Desk from 5pm on the day. Tickets are first come first serve, with no pre-booking available.

About the speaker

Dave Hill (QVRM, VR) has had a lifelong interest in the Second World War and has been a collector of artefacts from this era for many years.  He founded the London Clandestine Warfare Collection in 2019.
