About the exhibition

The 1690s were a time of change for the City of London. Following the Great Fire and the rebuilding of the City, international trade was booming, and new institutions and ways of working were being established.
In partnership with the Insurance Museum, this new exhibition will examine the innovations that transformed the London financial district: fire insurance, maritime insurance, and the Bank of England. Sponsored by the City of London Corporation, National Lottery Heritage Fund, and Chartered Insurance Institute.
