Call for papers: Bank of England and Euro Area Business Cycle Network conference on Can Heterogeneous Agent Models Be Useful for Central Bankers? How?

London, 22 September 2025

About the event

The Bank of England and the Euro Area Business Cycle Network are organising a one-day workshop on the use of heterogeneous agent models in central banking. In particular, the focus will be on how, if at all, explicitly modelling heterogeneity can assist central bankers in pursuing their core mandates related to macroeconomic aggregates and financial stability. The conference explicitly focuses on the use of heterogeneous agent models in the analysis of aggregates, rather than distributions.

The organisers welcome submissions of completed papers on theoretical and empirical aspects of the question. Applications using euro area, UK, and other European  data are particularly encouraged.

The keynote speaker will be: Adrien Auclert, Associate Professor, Economics Department, Stanford University.

The deadline for submissions is 15 April 2025. For coauthored papers, submitting authors should plan to present the paper at the workshop. To submit a paper, please follow this link: EABCN: Can Heterogeneous Agent Models Be Useful for Central Bankers? How? | CEPR
