Professor Mario Blejer has been appointed as the new Director of the Centre for Central Banking Studies (CCBS) at the Bank of England. He will also be an Adviser to the Governor.

Professor Blejer was Governor of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic from January 2002 to June 2002 and previously Deputy Governor. Before that he was a Senior Adviser at the International Monetary Fund (1980-2001) and Walter Rathenau Professor of Economics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1996-1999). He will take up the appointment in early December 2002.
