Paul Myners made a request to the Governor to be excused from his responsibilities as a member of Court following an approach to him by JC Flowers Co. LLC in relation to a proposal they are contemplating with respect to Northern Rock PLC.

The Governor agreed with this request and, with effect from 25 October 2007, Paul Myners stood down from Court duties. These arrangements will remain in force so long as any actual or potential conflict of interest remains. Paul Myners has not resigned from Court.
