Artificial intelligence in UK financial services – 2026
26 October 2026
The Bank of England and Financial Conduct Authority conducted a fourth survey of artificial intelligence and machine learning in UK financial services. This publication provides a descriptive summary of the aggregate survey results. It reports how respondent firms are using, planning to use, governing and managing AI, and how they perceive the associated benefits, risks and constraints.
CP14/26 – Review of the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR) – Phase 2
22 October 2026
The SM&CR was introduced in 2016 to strengthen individual accountability for the most senior decision makers in regulated firms. It is one of the principal tools by which the PRA promotes the safety and soundness of the UK financial system and draws on the lessons learned from the 2008 financial crisis.
The proposed package of reforms is intended to deliver a more flexible, proportionate and streamlined regime, while still maintaining clear focus on the individual accountability of senior decision makers within regulated firms.

PS19/26 – High loan to income lending
14 October 2026
This PS sets out the PRA’s final policy following CP6/26. It removes the firm-specific 15% cap on high loan to income (LTI) lending, giving lenders greater flexibility to set high LTI lending strategies in line with their risk appetite and business models, while aiming to keep aggregate lending consistent with the Financial Policy Committee’s 15% limit. Following consultation feedback, firms’ individual high LTI flows and any required adjustments will be measured on a rolling four-quarter basis, while the aggregate flow will continue to be monitored quarterly. The PRA has also introduced new governance and risk management expectations and will publish the aggregate high LTI flow each quarter. The PRA’s rules and supervisory statement take effect on Wednesday 28 October 2026.
CP13/26 – The Prudential Regulation Authority’s automatic thresholds indexation framework
7 October 2026
This consultation paper proposes a transparent, rules-based framework that would automatically update in-scope regulatory thresholds every five years. The PRA proposes that the first automatic update for thresholds under this new framework would take place on 1 July 2031. The framework would change the way many thresholds are maintained across PRA rules and guidance. The PRA would move away from the current ad hoc, policy-by-policy approach to a more systematic and predictable cross-policy methodology.
