The existing series of Overseas Sterling Holdings is being replaced by a new series entitled "External Liabilities and Claims in Sterling". This article introduces the new series, at the same time describing the old one and explaining the differences between the two. Figures in the new series will be published as at the end of each calendar quarter; the first figures, for December 1962 and March 1963, are given in tables at the end of this article with details of area, type of holder, and type of liability and claim.
