Biography

Rashmi is an economist with research interests in financial markets, bank funding and credit and the transmission of monetary and macroprudential policy. 

She currently manages the Analysis Team within the Bank’s Sterling Markets Division. Her team is responsible for research and analysis on developments in financial markets to support the Monetary Policy Committee and Financial Policy Committee’s policy decisions. In addition, the team provides analytical support for the effective design and implementation of monetary policy and liquidity insurance operations in sterling markets. Rashmi’s role also involves gathering market intelligence on UK rates markets and the asset management industry.

Before this, Rashmi was involved with a special project on the implications of EU membership and a cross-Bank project on the UK’s medium-term capital framework. She previously worked in the Monetary Analysis Directorate as a senior economist in the Monetary Assessment and Strategy Division (working and publishing on a wide range of issues such as bank funding and credit and the transmission of monetary and macroprudential policy), and as an economist on the UK Forecast Team (producing and developing the Bank’s Inflation Report fan charts in the depths of the financial crisis).
