In her speech, Victoria reflects on two topics. The first is the importance of having a diverse workforce. The second is the benefits of having a diverse payment system.

Victoria says having a diverse workforce helps us to carry out our mission. She explains what we’re doing to improve diversity at the Bank of England. In particular, she highlights the work of our disAbility staff network, which she takes a keen interest in as the network’s Executive Sponsor.

Next, she argues that having a diverse range of payment options for customers supports both financial stability and operational resilience. And she sets out how we support innovation in the payments ecosystem. For example, by renewing our Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) service to promote greater access to payment systems and greater interoperability.
