English teaching resource: Can’t We Just Print More Money?

Free English Language resource for secondary schools (key stage 4).

About this resource

Our teaching resource ‘Can’t We Just Print More Money?’ is based on a book of the same name, which was written by two of our economists.

We’ve used this book to develop a resource to support English Language specifications across a range of UK qualifications.

Our resource consists of six lessons. Each lesson uses an extract from the book as the basis for analysis, critical evaluation and discussion. They all include a lesson plan, presentation and worksheet.

In each lesson, your students can explore key economic ideas and reflect on popular English Literature texts. You can use them to support your school’s English curriculum or cross-curricular studies.

These lessons support specifications for:

  • GCSE English Language
  • iGCSE English Language
  • National 5 English

We developed the resource in partnership with Jo Heathcote, an experienced teacher of English Language and English Literature. Jo is a former principal examiner for a major UK awarding body.
