Disclosure:

The Bank of England (the ‘Bank’) is not a Trust. The Bank was established as a company by Royal Charter under the Bank of England Act 1694. Since then a number of laws have been made that determine how we operate. Information about those laws is on our website in the ‘Bank of England legislation’ section. The shares of the Bank are held by HM Treasury.
