Communications between David Cameron and senior Bank Officials about Greensill Capital and the Covid Corporate Financing Facility (CCFF)

Freedom of Information rules mean that, as a public authority, the Bank of England is obliged to disclose certain types of information, both proactively and on request.

Date: 22 April 2021

Disclosure:

Since and including March 1 2020, communications between David Cameron and any of the following individuals:

  • Members of the Court of Directors
  • The Governor
  • Deputy Governors
  • Chief Operating Officer
  • Executive Directors

We have understood the request to relate to communications between David Cameron and those Bank of England (the ‘Bank’) individuals listed above, and which concern Greensill Capital’s potential access to the Covid Corporate Financing Facility.

Some of the information we have provided may not technically fall within the scope of the request. For example, in respect of the enclosed email sent from David Cameron to Deputy Governor, Sir Jon Cunliffe, dated 22 April 2020, an email response was not sent by Sir Jon. However, on 24 April 2020, Sir Jon followed up with a call to Lex Greensill. We have for completeness included a copy of the write up of that call even though it does not fall within the scope of the request.
