Cost of Dr Bernanke’s review of the Bank of England’s forecasting

Freedom of Information rules mean that, as a public authority, the Bank of England is obliged to disclose certain types of information, both proactively and on request.

Disclosure: 

Dr Bernanke was not paid for his work conducting the review into the Bank’s forecasting which took place between July 2023 and April 2024. However, the Bank paid for travelling, accommodation and other reasonable expenses for Dr Bernanke and his research assistant. There were no additional research costs or consultancy fees.

Dr Bernanke travelled to London with his research assistant between 14 October and 4 November 2023, and on his own between 9 and 12 April 2024. The Bank paid a total of £28,707.56 for expenses incurred by Dr Bernanke and his research assistant whilst carrying out the review.
