The Queen and The Duke will be greeted on arrival by the Governor, Sir Mervyn King, and the Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Roger Gifford, before proceeding on a tour of the Bank where they will have the opportunity to meet and speak to staff members drawn from across the organisation. During their visit they will be accompanied by two of the Bank’s Heads of Division, Victoria Cleland and Gareth Ramsay. The Queen and The Duke will be invited to sign an unissued £1 million banknote to record their visit, a tradition that dates back to the early part of the 19th century. The signed note is placed in the Distinguished Visitors Book.
