Finance for exports

Quarterly Bulletin 1961 Q2
Published on 01 June 1961

Recent developments in the balance of payments have sharply reemphasised the vital importance to the United Kingdom of a high and rising level of exports. For this reason the problem of credit for exports in all its aspects, including the question of the terms on which export credit insurance can be obtained from the Export Credits Guarantee Department, has been reviewed over recent months by the Government Departments concerned. The Bank of England have also taken part in this review, their particular concern being with the availability of finance for exports and the terms on which it can be obtained.
