This note describes the major financial flows between the various sectors of the economy in 1985. The annual flow of funds matrices for 1984 and 1985 follow the article, together with notes on definitions and seasonal adjustment. Further flow of funds tables, including those published only annually (which include transactions by the monetary sector, the overseas sector and by individual groups of 'other financial institutions') can be found in the statistical annex. Details are also given of transactions by the various sectors in the equity and debenture markets.
In this article the flow of funds data have been scaled (to 1985 prices) using the GDP deflator at factor cost. This reduces the effect of inflation on the figures, making it easier to see where there have been 'real' changes.
