The Houblon-Norman Fund was established by the Bank of England in 1944 on the 250th anniversary of the Bank's foundation. Later this year the resources of the Fund will be increased by £500,000 as a pernanent celebration of the Bank's tercentenary. This will enable the Fund to continue to award fellowships to researchers of high calibre and to increase the number of such fellowships. This article describes the history of the Fund and the type of fellowships which will be offered in the future.
