Biography

William’s research is primarily empirical and covers topics on the microeconomics of banking and modelling of financial institution distress.

William joined the Bank in 2013 with the formation of the Prudential Regulation Authority.   Previously, he was an economist at the UK Financial Services Authority.   In addition, he has over 15 years of experience in banking supervision with the US Treasury Department and Federal Reserve Board, where he helped develop and advised on off-site monitoring and early warning systems.  He holds a PhD from the University of Illinois, MBA from Syracuse University and BS (Accounting) from Bucknell University.  He is also a US Certified Public Accountant. William now works as an economist in the Competition and Impact Assessment Team within the Bank of England’s Prudential Policy Directorate.
