Biography
Nick is Head of the Future of Money Division, and works across both the Notes department and Central Bank Digital Currency unit. He is responsible for the Bank’s oversight of Wholesale Cash Distribution, the analysis and forecasting of trends in cash use, and communication with businesses and other groups on bank note usage. He also oversees the economics and strategy aspects of the Bank of England's investigative work on the potential design of a Central Bank Digital Currency.
Prior to this Nick was Economic Advisor to the Governor, Andrew Bailey, and he has also worked in the Bank’s financial markets and monetary policy directorates.
His research looks at the interaction between the macroeconomy and financial markets, spanning a wide range of asset classes. Nick has also worked extensively on quantitative easing – in particular analysing the effect of the Bank’s asset purchases in financial markets.
