- The common equity Tier 1 (CET1) capital ratio for the UK banking sector decreased by 0.3 percentage points (pp) on the quarter from 15.0% to 14.7%.
- This decrease was more than accounted for by a change in the reporting population of UK banks and building societies as at March 2017. The population of designated investment firms remained unchanged.
- A comparison of published UK capital ratios is provided on page three of this release. This includes the Financial Policy Committee's core indicators which are based on data from the major UK banks. The capital ratios provided in this release are based on data from the entire UK banking sector.
