Capital Issuance - March 2017

Capital issuance statistics consist of UK-based primary market issuance of bonds, commercial paper and equity, representing finance raised in the UK.

This release contains gross and net issuance by UK residents, split by instrument and economic sector.

  • Gross capital issuance by UK residents was £46.6 billion in March 2017, £16.2 billion higher than in February and £14.4 billion higher than the previous six months average.
  • Net capital issuance by UK residents was £7.7 billion in March 2017, £12.8 billion higher than in February and £12.1 billion higher than the previous six months average.
  • PNFC gross bond issuance was £5.4 billion in March. This was £2.4 billion higher than in February and £1.8 billion higher than the previous six months average.
  • PNFC gross equity issuance was £1.5 billion in March. This was £0.7 billion higher than in February and £0.8 billion higher than the previous six months average.
