Capital Issuance - January 2018

Capital issuance statistics consist of UK-based primary market issuance of bonds, commercial paper and equity, representing finance raised in the UK.

Gross issuance by UK residents was £43.5bn in January 2018, £13.7bn higher than December 2017 and £3.2bn higher than the previous six months average.
Net issuance by UK residents was £11.3bn in January 2018, £16.9bn higher than December 2017 and £5.8bn higher than the previous six months average.
The increase in gross issuance in January 2018 was driven by MFI issuance, which was £29.4bn compared to £9.5bn in December 2017.
