An issue in Capital Issuance source data identified last month that caused an underestimation of commercial paper (CP) repayments and, to a lesser extent, CP issuance, between February 2018 and April 2018 has now been corrected and the revised data are included in this release.
Overview
- Gross issuance by UK residents was £50.7bn in May, £16.9bn higher than in April and £10.7bn higher than the previous six month average.
- PNFC net bond issuance was £11.0bn in May, £13.5bn higher than in April and £10.8bn higher than the previous six month average.
- MFIs had net bond repayments of £3.1bn in May, compared with net repayments of £5.1bn in April. This compares against a net issuance of £2.4bn of the previous 6 month average.
