Capital issuance statistics consist of UK-based primary market issuance of bonds, commercial paper and equity, representing finance raised in the UK.

Overview
Gross issuance of equity and debt securities by UK residents was £35.1bn in January 2019, £4.6bn lower than in December 2018, and £0.3bn lower than the previous six month average.
Bond issuance was £11.9bn in January 2019, compared to £22.0bn in December 2018, and was £7.4bn lower than the previous six month average.
MFI bond issuance was £9.8bn in January 2019, compared to £5.7 in December 2018, and £0.8bn higher than the previous six month average.
Commercial paper issuance was £23.1bn in January 2019, compared to £16.6bn in December 2018, and was £8.3bn higher than the previous six month average. This was driven by the MFI sector with several issuers issuing debt in excess of £1.0bn.
Equity issuance was £0.1bn in January 2019, £1.0bn lower than December 2018 and was £1.3bn lower than the previous six month average.
