Capital issuance statistics consist of UK-based primary market issuance of bonds, commercial paper and equity, representing finance raised in the UK.

Overview
Gross issuance of equity and debt securities by UK residents was £43.0bn in May, £2.5bn lower than in April but £6.8bn higher than the previous six month average.
Bond issuance was £26.7bn in May, compared to £27.0bn in April, and was £8.6bn higher than the previous six month average.
MFI bond issuance £14.9bn in May, compared to £13.4bn in April, and was £5.4bn higher than the previous six month average.
OFC bond issuance was £5.2bn in May, compared to £8.0bn in April, and was £0.4bn lower than the previous six month average.
Equity issuance was £1.8bn in May, compared to £3.7bn in April, and was £0.4bn higher than the previous six month average.

As first notified in the May 2019 release (April 2019 data), the Bank will be changing the publication date of these data from the 14th working day after the period month end to the 19th working day. This change will take effect from the July 2019 statistical release (June 2019 data). This publication is scheduled for the 25th July.
