The sixteenth conference in the annual series organised by the Statistics Users' Council was held in London on 13 November; it was the second on the theme of financial statistics and, like the first (in 1977), was organised in conjunction with the Bank of England. Some 250 people, representing a wide spread of interests, attended. The following account summarises the main topics and issues discussed.
