Effective interest rates - April 2019

This statistical release contains average interest rates across deposit or loan accounts with UK banks and building societies, calculated using data on rates and balances.

Key points

  • Effective rates on new time deposits for PNFCs increased 9bps to 0.79%, the highest since April 2012.
  • Effective rates on new other loans to individuals increased 63bps to 6.83%.
  • Effective rates on the stock of time deposits by individuals increased 3bps to 0.99%, the highest since February 2017.
