Effective interest rates - March 2019

This statistical release contains average interest rates across deposit or loan accounts with UK banks and building societies, calculated using data on rates and balances.

Key points

  • Effective rates on new mortgages were broadly unchanged at 2.10%.
  • Effective rates on new time deposits for individuals increased by 16bps to 1.41%.
  • Effective rates on new other loans to individuals decreased 64bps to 6.20%.
