Reclassification of housing associations to public sector - implementation date to be confirmed
In October 2015, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) announced a decision to reclassify “Private registered providers” of social housing in England (PRPs) to the Public Non-Financial Corporations sub-sector. Reporters should, however, note that the implementation of this change will not be effective in National Accounts, and therefore statistical returns, until there is a further announcement. The publication of a further statistical notice will outline when this change should be implemented.
