This statistical release covers the consolidated worldwide external claims and unused commitments of UK-owned monetary financial institutions (excluding central banks) and their branches and subsidiaries worldwide.

  • UK-owned monetary financial institutions and their branches and subsidiaries worldwide reported an increase in consolidated external claims on an ultimate risk basis of $131.5 billion during 2019 Q1, to a level of $3,538.9 billion.
  • By sector, the largest increase was on the other financial corporations, up $59.4 billion to a level of $716.3 billion.
  • By region, the largest increase in claims was on Developed Countries, up $89.9 billion to a level of $2,044.1 billion.
