Updates for firms

19 May 2026: The Bank, as resolution authority, has published a Discussion Paper on Central Counterparty (CCP) Resolution Execution and Resolvability Outcomes. The deadline for responses is 4 September 2026.

16 April 2026: The Bank, as resolution authority, has published:

  • 2026 external MRELs for all firms with a resolution entity incorporated in the UK for which a bail-in or transfer preferred resolution strategy has been set.
  • Report on the exercise of relevant sub-delegated powers for the financial year ending 28 February 2026.

26 March 2026: The PRA published three resolution-related policy statements:

12 February 2026: The Bank published a policy statement on the Bank Resolution Standards Instrument: The Technical Standards (COREP13) Instrument 2026.

2 February 2026: The Bank published a letter from Ruth Smith to the CFOs of the major UK banks on firms’ preparations for the third Resolvability Assessment Framework (RAF) assessment.

14 January 2026: The Bank published a speech delivered by Dave Ramsden given at King’s College London, ‘The evolution of the Bank’s approach to resolution’.

Banks and building societies

The Prudential and Resolution Policy Index is a tool to help find prudential and resolution policies by topic area. This includes a page focusing on policies relating to resolvability for banks, building societies and investment firms (including policies emanating from the Bank of England as Resolution Authority).

The Bank has also disclosed information on the minimum requirement for own funds and eligible liabilities (MRELs) it has set for the largest firms.
